Chetco Bar Fire Update October 13, 2017 (Chetco Bar Fire Wildfire)

Wetting rain has dampened fire activity throughout the Chetco Bar Fire perimeter. Suppression repair has transitioned to a grading operation. Hand crews have finished seeding operations and placement of water bars along Forest Road 060, and chipping operations are complete along Forest Road 240. Funding has been approved for the Type 3 team, in conjunction with the Burned Area Emergency Response team assigned to the incident, to conduct emergency hazard tree removal within the fire perimeter. Forest Road 1376 (North Bank Chetco) has been designated as a priority for this removal, in order to provide for the safety of residents and private logging operations along this road. These operations will commence within the week. Firefighters continue to patrol, mop up, and complete suppression repair operations as needed throughout the perimeter. Weather and Fire Behavior: Rain showers will continue today through early Friday morning. Another round of showers is expected Friday evening….
