Chetco Bar Fire Update October 12, 2017 (Chetco Bar Fire Wildfire)

Northern California is currently experiencing wildfire season. Smokes from these fires may be visible at times as air currents move northwards up the coast.Wetting rain has dampened fire activity throughout the Chetco Bar Fire perimeter. Suppression repair is scheduled for completion today. Hand crews finished seeding operations and placement of water bars yesterday along Forest Road 060, and chipping operations are nearly complete along Forest Road 240. The Burned Area Emergency Response team has approved a portion of funding for emergency hazard tree removal. Forest Road 1376 (North Bank Chetco) has been designated as a priority for this removal, in order to provide for the safety of residents and private logging operations along this road. These operations will commence within the week. Firefighters continue to patrol, mop up, and complete suppression repair operations as needed throughout the perimeter.Weather and Fire Behavior:Rain showers will continue today through early Friday…
