Chetco Bar Fire is 98% contained today. Firefighters’ perseverance is evident in every cold-trailed· draw, each mile of repaired fireline, and the steady backhaul of equipment and supplies. Crews and support personnel numbering over a thousand one week ago, are being demobilized as fire danger decreases with each successive day. Today 298 people remain, assigned to patrol, mop-up, implement suppression repair actions, and provide various support functions. The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest closure area was reduced in size on Friday, September 29, 2017 following completion of important repair work by fire personnel.
