Chetco Bar Fire Daily Update, October 1, 2017 (Chetco Bar Fire Wildfire)

Indigo Fire is 100% contained today. Crews have steadily progressed, repairing firelines surrounding and within the perimeter of the Chetco Bar Fire. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team is on scene, assessing post-fire impacts. This team, comprised of scientists and resource specialists, is evaluating watershed conditions to determine the level of potential risk to human life, safety, property, and natural and cultural-heritage resources. The resultant analysis informs land managers’ decision-making. The objective is to swiftly implement appropriate and effective emergency stabilization measures on federal lands to reduce risks from potential flooding and debris flow. Closures The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest closure area has been reduced in size following completion of important repair work by fire personnel.
