Chetco Bar Fire Air Quality Update – September 1

Chetco Bar Fire Air Quality Update – September 1 (Chetco Bar Fire Wildfire)

Chetco Bar Fire Air Quality Update – September 1 Smoke: Smoke production is expected to be significant today. Moderate to light East/Northeast winds will continue to drift smoke from Chetco Bar and other regional fires toward coastal areas into Gold Beach, Brookings and South into NW California. In these areas, Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy levels are expected to be seen in association with reduced visibility along Highway 101 and other local roadways. A light sea breeze later today may give some reprieve to coastal communities this afternoon. In the Agness, Grants Pass and Cave Junction regions, predominantly Unhealthy conditions are expected to remain as smoke from several fires drift down into these communities. Fire: Extreme fire behavior is expected today as critical burn conditions exist. A Red Flag warning is in effect. The fire is currently at 138,212 acres burned and is 10%contained. Other: We are working hard to get the Agness smoke monitor back
